Aquarius Engineers Pvt. Ltd a giant in RMC manufacturing equipment’s. The company provides equipments such as stationary pumps, mobile line pumps, truck mounted boom pumps, concrete batching plants, curb & barrier machines etc.

Mr. Yogesh Salvi, Manager – Export & Special Application Engineers Pvt. Ltd shares his overview on India’s RMC sector with Jibran Buchh.

  1. What is your overview of the RMC Sector?

Indian RMC sector was observing stagnation for past couple of years. This was predominantly due to slowdown in the Real Estate sector and lack of movement in the projects. Both Organised and Un-organised segment of RMC companies have witnessed this slump. The organised segment players had adapted to this situation and came up with offering of captive consumption batching plants for major ongoing project site in metro cities across India with operational control of the plant lying with the RMC Company.

The primary consumer for RMC is the Real Estate Sector (around 70%)and balance (of around 30%)is the Infrastructure and Industrial Sectors. With a slight movement in the infra projects and real estate sector, the RMC business is likely to get a much needed momentum during 2nd half of FY2015-16.

Also, at present Indian Construction sector is at a degree of mechanisation ofaround 20-25% as compared to 70-75% in the developed countries. With increased degree of it, the RMC industry stands with a good prospect of growth in next 4-5 years including a spread across Tier II cities.

  1. How has the first quarter of the year been so far? How much growth do you expect in 2015?

The 1st quarter of FY2015-16 was riding on new hopes and ended little better than the last quarter of FY2014-15. With infra and real estate projects slowly opening up, we expect a fairly good demand for Construction Equipment and should grow at around 30%.

  1. What are the major growth drivers going to be?

It is believed that following activities will trigger the construction demand in upcoming quarters –

  • Mass housing is need of hour. Most of the State Governments are planning for EWS housing schemes / projects. This type of construction activity will require greater degree of mechanisation and will create a good market for the high technology construction equipment
  • There are several projects unveiled like project by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for building National Highways linking borders within the country, projects worth Rs. 20000 Cr. for North Eastern States, investment in Port sector etc.
  • The government’s initiative to build 100 Smart Cities stands with another biggest potential for modern day construction and equipment required thereon.
  1. Any products which you have launch recently? Tell us about the technological dynamics which goes into equipment’s?

Yes. We have witnessed an increase in demand of Concrete Pumps for High Rise Construction Application across major Metro cities. Eying this, we have developed & launched Concrete pump model ‘1400 HPD+’. This pump is capable of withstanding stringent concrete pumping demands and pressures. AQUARIUS 1400 HPD+ can easily mitigate the taxing natured & with sticky characteristic concrete mixes of M80/ M100, which are becoming common in high rise construction.
