By Indian Bureau of Mines, Ministry of Mines

Thirteen limestone mines of UltraTech Cement Limited, India’s leading cement and RMC company, received 5-star ratings for year 2021-22 from the Indian Bureau of Mines at the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Bureau of Mines on March 1, 2023. These are the highest number of 5-star ratings awarded to any company in India across all sectors.

At the programme marking the event, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Shri Pralhad Joshi, felicitated UltraTech for demonstrated exceptional performance in all aspects of mining and contributing to India’s mining sector. The felicitation ceremony was also graced by Shri Vivek Bharadwaj, Union Secretary, Ministry of Mines.

UltraTech’s endeavours in driving excellence in mining are in line with the Indian Bureau of Mines’ goals towards sustainable mining, efficient operations and technology-driven mineral processing.

Conceptualised by the Ministry of Mines, the star ratings are based on adoption of best practices for implementation of Sustainable Development Framework in mining. A five-star rating, highest in the rating scheme, is given to mines which performed best on parameters such as scientific, efficient and sustainable mining, compliance of approved production, land resettlement and other social impacts.
