The plant has been established as part of the cement company’s long-term plan to transition to Renewable Energy sources. The plant was constructed by Hyderabad-based Fourth Partner Energy in just 60 days and is expected to reduce Bharathi Cement’s overall energy costs and reliance on Thermal power. The 10MW plant is spread across 41 acres at Bharathi Cement’s 5 million tpy manufacturing unit in Kadapa. Vicat Group holds a 51% stake in Bharathi Cement and operates the facility. Guy Sidos, Chairman of Vicat Group, was quoted as saying: “This investment into the solar plant here reiterates our global commitment towards Renewable energy and Sustainable development.”
