Doosan’s Advancements in Compact Equipment and EV Transition

Doosan highlights its cutting-edge compact equipment and EV solutions, addressing BS5 norms, operator training, and India’s infrastructure growth, while advocating for policy support to drive industry-wide development.
Doosan, a leader in compact construction equipment, has unveiled three advanced products, including its latest BS5-compliant machine. The transition to BS5 engines aligns with government mandates aimed at reducing pollution and increasing carbon credits. While this shift enhances technology, safety, and ergonomics, it poses challenges for end-users due to increased costs without direct return on investment. Doosan emphasizes the need for government incentives to support customers adopting these technologies.
The company’s lithium-ion battery forklifts have also gained traction, especially in industries prioritizing zero emissions. These forklifts, imported from Korea, are equipped with advanced safety sensors, ensuring reliability and accident prevention. Despite a higher price point, they have achieved a 25% year-on-year growth due to strong market acceptance.
However, challenges persist, such as the scarcity of skilled operators for skid steer loaders. Doosan addresses this by conducting training programs and certifying operators, helping bridge the skill gap and ensuring machine usability.
India’s infrastructure boom, driven by projects in roads, railways, and warehousing under ‘Vision 2047,’ presents significant growth opportunities for construction equipment manufacturers like Doosan. While India is the third-largest construction equipment market, it has room to grow, with Doosan optimistic about scaling volumes to match global leaders like China.
To accelerate growth, Doosan advocates for reduced GST rates or incentives for first-time buyers of compact equipment, along with measures to curb cash transactions and ensure fair competition among equipment operators.
Doosan is also preparing for the EV revolution, focusing on infrastructure development to support widespread adoption. While EVs offer reduced operational costs, their higher initial investment and limited charging infrastructure remain barriers. The company stresses the importance of speeding up infrastructure readiness to lower costs and enhance logistics efficiency.
With its innovative solutions and strategic vision, Doosan is poised to play a vital role in shaping India’s construction equipment market and supporting its sustainable growth trajectory.
