Marathon Group is a 49-year-old Mumbai based real estate development company that has completed over 80 projects in the city. Marathon was recently named ‘Developer of the Year’ at the ET Now Real Estate Awards 2018. Marathon Group has always laid special emphasis on quality across the board and has been an early adopter of cutting edge construction technology. Over a period of 48 years, the Group has introduced radical new technologies such as PERI, STEN, MIVAN and Korean Kumkang technology across its projects.
Construction Technology: When it comes to our projects across MMR, we are keenly focused on building technology and quality interventions right from start of the project to the end of it and until its possession. For e.g, at Monte South – our upcoming 60 storey award winning luxury residential project in Byculla; we have implemented complete Korean Kumkang Formwork across all its residential towers to build exceptional structural strength into our project along with safety.
We also have on-site quality testing labs to test the quality of all materials being used. We don’t cut corners. We do not outsource our construction, we build in-house expertise to go the extra mile, even if it costs us more; in the process ensuring the best for our projects and our customers.
Ensuring Superior Structural Strength: In our projects the columns, slabs and beams in our buildings are typically poured all together, which means there are no joints, making it almost impossible to have leakages, cracks and other construction related problems. Such unique practices help us create state of the art concrete that will stand strong for 75 years without needing any major repairs and save our customers from all kinds of infuriating issues like leakages, cracking of paint, tiles. Our completed projects are a testament to this. We use acrylic water proofing to ensure your homes are leak proof. We always use premium, polymer based external paints that typically costs twice as much as the industry standard. These paints prevent moss from growing on the building. They are also highly resistant to ultraviolet rays and do not fade easily, resulting in lower maintenance costs.
On concepts of technology: Evolving customer requirements, increasing construction costs and competition make it important for the developers to embrace the latest technology. Using world-class technology on site enables us to have better control on quality and construction cost. It has helped us in bringing down cost by a good margin. Going forward, this will be the future of construction. Adopting cutting edge technology also helps in delivering projects faster – for instance once we adopted MIVAN shuttering technology our slab cycles reduced significantly. At every level, right from construction to finishing, safety and security, and end user experience, technology is transforming the real estate sector. The advanced building management system at Marathon Futurex, the safety measures we implement in all our projects and the leak proof structures that we build are a testament to that.
On your motives and principles: We are in a constant endeavor to create value for the stakeholders who are directly as well as indirectly associated with the business process. We always strive to understand what people need in metro cities in the long-run and ways through which we can create a business environment revolving around sustainability and responsibility. In the end, we want to add value to our customers, employees, and suppliers. By focusing on the technology, customer experience, process roadmaps and quality aspects across our projects we have been able to carve a niche for ourselves. Today, our projects whether it be Marathon Futurex in Lower Parel or Monte South in South Mumbai; are well known nationally and internationally for the quality, design and technology aspects that we have implemented across these projects. We are probably amongst the few developers in India who have conducted benchmarking studies to study the international design and construction aspects and successfully implemented the same in our award winning commercial project – Marathon Futurex.
