Godrej Security Solutions
Pushkar Gokhale, Vice President – Head B2B, Godrej Security Solutions
- As the unexpected calamity of COVID has hit all the politics and markets of the world, we would like to know your expert views on the current market status and the way you are planning to combat the current pandemic scenario?
As you know, the market has come to a standstill owing to the global pandemic. We see a change in sentiment of consumer behavior where they will become extremely cautious of their future purchases. However, when it comes to the B2B side of businesses, we foresee that there will be a rise in spends in public surveillance products such as Thermal Imaging Camera for Elevated Body Temperature Screening. We have launched a Dual sensor (Normal Video Image and Thermal Image) “WALK THROUGH SYSTEM” which detects high temperature and generates real time alarm, 98 % temperature accuracy with maximum 0.05°C variation
When people do start stepping out, there will be a new normal where health security will be a prime concern. Keeping in line with this, we also introduced a specialized product –VigiGuard Tripod turnstile with sanitizer dispenser which assures optimal disinfection of hands. The product offers “Touch free” mechanism, secure entry, restricting any person who has not disinfected their hand. In a way it makes hand sanitization mandatory before entering the premises.
Post the pandemic, once lockdown regulations are lifted, we will have to keep ensuring and practicing social distancing and maintaining health protocols. Going forward our strategy will be to work on improving and developing surveillance systems that ensures a robust check when it comes to detecting a health crisis. Not only averting health issues, this will also improve the overall security of large spaces.
- Is there is any new plan or strategy which you are planning for remaining competitive in the coming months and how do you forecast your business dealings after the market emerges to again run on the track of moving on and gaining some momentum?
One of the major developments that will take place in the coming months is that we will be supporting and actively participating in the government’s initiative of ‘Make in India’. We are working to develop technology and hardware that can be sourced from within India. This will ensure that we are self-reliant even when global supply chains collapse. As mentioned, health security will become a primary focus even for our product development and innovation.
- What are your current or forthcoming projects which you are working on and how are you managing the execution of them in a positive and practical manner?
At Godrej Security Solutions, we use the TOC methodology of execution where principles like WIP (work in progress) rule, flow meetings and full kit concepts are used.
The COVID-19 scenario makes it all the more important in ensuring implementing these concepts where in :
- WIP rule will be defined ensuring minimum and restricted manpower deployment
- Ensuring full kit availability (for decided work fronts) to avoid delays
- Security and safety of the workforce will be reiterated and emphasised during the flow meetings at site
- When it comes to being one of the market leaders, how are you researching on management’s organization and keeping yourself motivated during the COVID phase?
At Godrej, we have a few systems in places for smooth management of work and keeping the spirits high. With employees operating from their houses, it gives them the flexibility to manage home and work together. To make most of the lockdown period, our corporate team has proactively helped us with an exhaustive list of e-learning coursers, which we can take up and upskill ourselves. From interesting master classes of the well-known industry stalwarts, to short term courses to work efficiently, these courses have different learning opportunities for all. There are e learning classes for everyone from the junior to the senior management. This is an interesting initiative to engage employees and help them to make use of their time more effectively.
- What expectations you have from the government’s plans and reforms to uplift and improve the overall condition of the Indian infrastructure and construction market?
Ruling Government Initiatives such as Housing for all and the flagship scheme PMAY aims to build 20 million urban homes and 30 million rural houses by 2022. Smart Cities, Metro Rail projects, UDAN Regional airport development etc. will be fuelling the growth of the Urban Infrastructure and construction development.
- Is there is something you would like to share with your audience at large, as in discussing your trade principals and motives?
One of our main motive and driving factor has always been providing premium security at all levels to our customers. We understand the growing and changing environment of security and surveillance and the threats people/citizens are often exposed to. We create products and equipment that helps our customers to be at ease regarding external threats in their daily life. We believe in providing a secure setting for all those invested with us. In the coming times, we will continue to deliver what our customers need and continue to extend our expertise in times of national crisis.
