Greenlam Industries Ltd. installs Solar Power Generation Plant to contribute 12 % of Solar Energy requirement of its manufacturing unit in Behror, Rajasthan
In lieu of its commitment towards innovation and social responsibility, Greenlam Industries Ltd. leading manufacturers of decorative laminates, decorative veneers and engineered wood floors, today announced the installation of solar panels at the company’s manufacturing unit in Behror, Rajasthan.
This initiative by Greenlam Industries will reduce the carbon emission by 13,90 Lac Kg/Year and will save 2,70 Lac liters of fuel every year. India has a target of installing 100 GW of solar power by 2022, out of which 40 GW is expected to come from rooftop solar projects. The unit, with a capacity of 0.955 MW, aims to contribute towards saving around 13.50 Lac units of power per year. While Behror unit’s total power requirement is 35K Units /Day, Greenlam Industries has installed solar power generation capacity to contribute 0.955 MW/Day which is approximately 12%. of its present day total power requirement. With an investment of approx. 4-Crores this initiative will provide for power generation of 13.50 Lacs Units/Year.
Commenting on the same, Mr. Ashok Sharma, CFO, Greenlam Industries Ltd. said,
“India has been an enthusiastic participant in the landmark movement of using solar energy. It is the need of the hour to reduce carbon footprints and at Greenlam Industries we have taken a step in this direction by installing solar panels in our manufacturing unit in Behror, Rajasthan. We are all a part of the larger ecosystem and need to be cognizant to cut down our dependence on thermal power and diesel consumption. With an objective to address and contribute towards the issue of Global warming, this plant will save 54,878 trees per year and contribute to a greener future.”
The primary objective of this step is to reduce the carbon footprint in our manufacturing process by using Green Energy which is also economical in the long run so that we are able to provide power to remote areas.
