Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi lays foundation of Essel Infra’s Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) under NAMAMI GangeProgrammein Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation of Essel Infra’s Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Ramana, Varanasi on September 22, 2017.  Essel Infra, an enterprise of Dr. Subhash Chandra led Essel Group is the PPP Partner for this 50 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) contract based on Hybrid Annuity-PPP model. This project is the very first of the two such projects awarded under NAMAMI Gange Programme.

The project, which will be constructed in eighteen months and will be operated and maintained for 15 years by Essel Infra. This STP will treat 5 crore litres of sewage of Varanasi city every day. The project will use world class SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactors) technology to treat sewage as per stringent international quality standards. Currently, the entire sewage is being pushed into the River Gange without any treatment mechanism and is a major source of pollution in the river.

On the occasion, Mr. RohitModi, CEO, Essel Infra, said, “We are proud to be associated with the ‘NAMAMI GangeProgrammehelmed by Hon’ble Prime Minister. This is an important milestone to achieve the goal of ‘Swachh Bharat’ and cleaning the Holy River Ganga. We are committed to complete the project before the scheduled timeline”.

Essel Infra is leading the consortium for the project, will undertake complete designing, development, finance and construction work of the STP, its Effluent Disposal Pipeline and all associated infrastructure.The company is a well-established name in the infra sector due to its indelible credibility of undertaking large projects across the length and breadth of the country with the help of its state-of-art equipment and highly trained manpower.  This first of a kind Sewage Treatment Project is being managed under the ‘NAMAMI Gange Programme, a Flagship Programme of the Central Government.
