NHIDCL appoints REPL as Consultant for Improvement of National Highway in Manipur
National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) appoints Rudrabhishek Enterprises Ltd. (REPL) venture as supervision consultant for Widening and Improvement of a sections of NH-39 & NH-102C in Manipur. The agreement was signed on 19th Aug in Delhi.
The project is to widen and improve the Imphal-Moreh section (29.731 km) on NH-39 in the State of Manipur. Besides, it also includes the Construction of Moreh Bypass (2.52 km) to Two Lane with a paved shoulder on NH-39 near Indo-Myanmar border, and widening and strengthening to two laning with hard paved shoulder of Pallel-Chandel section (18.292 km) of NH-102C. The total stretch of the National Highway to be widened, strengthened and constructed in Manipur is 50.543 km and the cost involved is Rs 449.78 cr. This project will improve and enhance the road infrastructure in the area for better connectivity and all-season transportation of people, goods and material.
REPL would support NHIDCL in these endeavors by providing consultancy services as Authority’s Engineer for the supervision of the above-mentioned project. This project timeline is divided into 2 phases i.e. 2 years of construction and 5 years of maintenance.
In an official statement, Mr. Pradeep Misra, CMD-REPL said, “Northeast India holds great strategic importance for trade and tourism purposes and strong connectivity across the area is essential for the overall development. The government’s Look East Policy that aims at enhancing the infrastructure here by widening the roads, expanding air connectivity, extending railway networks, opening new and reactivating dormant trade routes, as well as facilitating border trade and transit points will open the gate for the fast-paced development of the region.”
Dr. Harish Sharma, ED, REPL shared that as a consultant for Authority’s Engineer, REPL will review and approve the drawings furnished by the contractor along with support data, including the geotechnical and hydrological investigations, characteristics of materials from borrow areas and quarry sites, topographical surveys, and the recommendations of the safety consultant. REPL will also check contents of the Quality Assurance Plan and Manual of Concessionaire as per requirements of Quality Management System for road bridges and roads respectively and grant approval to the contractor for interruption and diversion of the flow of traffic in the existing lanes of the project highway for maintenance during the construction period.
“The road will be constructed on EPC mode. Our previous experience of working in the north-eastern part of the country will help us a lot in this project and we are confident that we will complete this project in the given timeline,” he added.
REPL is already working in the north-eastern part of the country as Project Management Consultants for Itanagar Smart City Development Corporation Ltd. Apart from this, the company is also working on many infrastructure and planning projects pan India including Smart Cities projects, BIM consultancy for Chennai Metro, Housing for All Plan of Action, GIS-Based master plans in Andhra Pradesh, UP, etc.
