Redefining India’s Infrastructure with AI: Toward a $26 Trillion Economy
Mr. Ashish Bhutani, CEO of Bhutani Infra
“As India embarks on its journey toward becoming a $26 trillion economy, AI is revolutionizing infrastructure development. From project planning to execution, AI enables smarter, more sustainable approaches, aligning with the nation’s Vision 2047 – Viksit Bharat initiative.”
Infrastructure is a cornerstone of India’s journey to becoming a $26 trillion economy. Investments in physical development, particularly when aligned with ease of doing business initiatives, are crucial for enhancing efficiency and reducing costs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized that robust infrastructure is essential for good governance across all sectors. Reflecting this priority, the Interim Budget 2024-25 has increased the capital investment outlay by 11.1% to ₹11.11 lakh crore ($133.86 billion), amounting to 3.4% of GDP.
AI technology has ushered in a paradigm shift in the real estate and infrastructure sectors, revolutionising the planning and execution of large-scale projects. In alignment with India’s Vision 2047 – Viksit Bharat initiative, AI is driving projects to become more efficient, sustainable, and future-ready.
For industry professionals like us, AI offers powerful tools for project planning. It enables precise site selection by analysing complex datasets—such as geographic, environmental, and market data—leading to more informed decisions and reducing project risks. During the design phase, AI facilitates the creation of optimised building models that enhance energy efficiency and minimise material waste, setting new standards for sustainability.
In the construction phase, AI transforms project management. Real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and risk assessment technologies help minimise delays, optimise resource use, and ensure high safety standards. After completion, AI continues to add value through smart building technologies, where IoT devices and AI-driven systems enhance energy management, security, and occupant experiences.
Looking toward 2047, the industry aims to achieve transformative milestones. We envision the widespread integration of AI in developing smart cities and innovative urban spaces that align with India’s growth as a developed nation. By leveraging AI, we are setting the stage for a future where technology and sustainability are seamlessly integrated, driving progress and enhancing quality of life across the country.
