Please describe the significance and usage of Light towers in the Road Construction projects?

Atlas Copco’s HiLight V5+ light towers show toughness in a new light. The forward thinking HiLight V5+ from Atlas Copco offers advanced LED solutions. It is the safest and most efficient light tower for road construction, airports, hydro power projects, mining and construction applications.

With time bound projects and the need for 24 by 7 action to ensure on time completion, technology which ensures reliable light on site, brings in the required support for meeting the infrastructure project deadlines.  Atlas Copco’s newest addition to its portfolio, the HiLight V5+ LED light tower, illuminates an area of approximately 5,000 sqm with an average brightness of 20 lux. This LED light tower is the 1st CPCB II compliant light tower in India for the entire light tower, which ensures sites are brighter, safer and more productive.

Considering Light Towers have lamps, are there any challenges involved on the logistics front? If yes, how do you combat them?

The HiLight V5+ include a HardHat® canopy as standard, which ensures maximum protection of internal parts. Our lamps come with IP 67 protections. This range of light towers is perfect for multiple drop and pick up ideal for rental applications and providing users a robust and easy-to-transport set of lighting options that match any site requirements. The extended safety features also guarantee the protection of bulbs during transportation.

We are the innovators in bringing in LED lighting technology to India. Here are some of the innovative ways in which we lead the way for brighter and safer light:

Illumination with LED lighting technology

The HiLight V5+ can illuminate an area of approximately 5,000 sq m with an average brightness of 20 lux while ensuring low fuel consumption.

  • High Efficiency LED 4 x 350 W.
  • Special optics designed by Atlas Copco to maximise light coverage.
  • Instant light.
  • Dedicated power pack for LED application working at the right power load.
  • Manual Mast (electric winch option). The manual vertical mast can be rotated quickly and easily to light a different area while fully extended to its maximum height of 7.5 m.
  • Delivers the correct tone of light.
  • The fully directional optic lens maximises practical light coverage while minimising dark spots improving visibility on the job site.
  • LED lamp life expectancy of 30,000 hours.
  • Each lamp can withstand base ball impact thrown at speed at 100 MPH.

Efficiency with savings

  • The HiLight V5+ is the first CPCB-II compliant light tower in India for the entire light tower.
  • Thanks to its Hardhat® canopy, the HiLight V5+ is the most silent light tower in its segment in India.
  • It is a premium model incorporating LED lighting technology and increased fuel efficiency.
  • These light towers deliver fuel savings of up to 50 per cent when compared to the typical fuel consumption of a 6 kW metal halide solution.
  • Transport efficiency: Ultra compact footprint; Towing speed – 80 km per hour.
  • Lowest operating cost: 150 hours of continuous run time; 400 hours service interval ensures the light towers have maximised uptime and consequently increased productivity for end-users.

HardHat canopy

The “Can you beat a HardHat canopy?” at Excon 2017, proved the durability and strength of the HiLight V5+ canopy, which remained sturdy and was not damaged or dented even when hit by a cricket bat several times by many of our customers in a major construction trade show.

  • The HiLight V5+ includes a HardHat® canopy as standard, which provides tough protection of internal parts against harsh conditions.

Kindly comment on the reforms and plans by the government of India to develop the construction equipment industry. What are your expectations from the same and what would be your competitive strategies in the period of 2020-2022, which is being considered as the revival period of the industry?

This is an exceptional year and the pandemic has impacted projects worldwide. With the unlock 1.0, we look forward to infrastructure and mining projects getting kick started giving us continued opportunities to touch lives and improve infrastructure needs of people in India. We expect a staggered growth in the short term but expect stability and better growth in demand in the long term as the relief packages to boost the economy are implemented.

The construction sector has been impacted by the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic. Once the projects resume post lock down, it is important to navigate the recovery phase well. The project implementation cost may go up and will experience a likely delay of a few months. Priority should be given to the clearance of pending projects and completion of projects nearing completion, which could act as a quick win for reviving the economy. Construction sector in India is very important as it contributes to around 60% of the total investments; it will come back strongly to support the economy revival.
