RLDA invites bids near Jaisalmer Railway Station

The land parcel to be leased is to the North of the Jaisalmer Railway station

Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has invited bids for leasing out a vacant plot of land measuring 31,722 sqm along the Jodhpur Road at Jaisalmer, situated in the proximity of the Jaisalmer Railway Station for commercial development, for a lease period of 45 years.

This land is strategically located near the Jaisalmer Railway Junction, which makes it easily approachable and connected to all areas of Jaisalmer city. Local public transport facilities are conveniently available from the site. The North segment of the site is abutting vacant Railway land, behind which is the Jaisalmer Railway station, the East side of the parcel has private land, the South is bound by Jodhpur Road having 30 meters Right of Way (ROW), while the West portion of the site is adjacent to Railway colony. The site is apt for commercial development.

“This land parcel is near Jaisalmer Railway Station and is on the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer Road, which makes it a highly convenient location for commercial transits and carrying out business activities. Jaisalmer fort has been declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan, which makes the city of Jaisalmer even more commercial & tourist oriented,” said Shri Ved Parkash Dudeja, Vice Chairman, Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA).

The city of Jaisalmer has historical significance and has been nicknamed ‘The Golden City’ because of the ample usage of yellow sandstone in construction and also because of its big and beautiful sand dunes. Interestingly, one of India’s most luxurious trains services — The Palace on Wheels connects the Jaisalmer Railway station and includes this city in its itinerary. The city is crowned by Jaisalmer Fort, which is one of the oldest living forts, with about one-fourth of the city’s population still living inside it.
The reserve price for 45-year lease period has been kept at Rs 23.69 crores. This site has a permissible Built-up Area Ratio (BAR) of 1.05 with a built-up area of about 33,308.42 Sqm. The development is expected to have civic amenities like vehicle parking for users and visitors, as well as roads for internal circulation network.

Pre-bid meeting has been held on February 17, 2022 where National & State level developers participated and showed keen interest. The last date for e-bid submission through online mode is March 30, 2022.

Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is a statutory authority under the Ministry of Railways for the development of Railway land. It has four key mandates as a part of its development plan, namely leasing commercial sites, colony redevelopment, station redevelopment, and multi-functional complexes.
During the current Financial Year, RLDA has leased out various sites at Chennai, Amravati, Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Asansol (West Bengal), Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), Ambari (Guwahati) etc. RLDA has also leased out railway colonies i.e. Chilkalguda & Rifle-Range colonies (Secunderabad) and Rajkot Railway Colony in the current financial year for redevelopment.
